Mounting mobile phone to Versys 650 2016?

Hey I'm looking at mounts for my iphone 11, I have searched the forum and RAM mounts appear to be a faviourite, the problem is that it looks like you have to buy different extentions for different handlebars and they are so expensive I don't want to get it wrong. https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Ram-Mount...s%2C164&sr=8-5

I don't mind looking at a different brand, any suggestions? What do you guys use and what did you buy? where did you mount it? https://ibb.co/9ZWk9Q2

Forget RAM mounts the X pegs either turn the phone of or the volume down/up! Plus the rubber mounts fall off.

Try a GUB. Locks the phone in via a screw leaving all controls open.

Look someplace other than RAM. I've been through two X-mount appliances in 6 months and RAM's "lifetime" guaranty is really a "you somehow misused it" guaranty. They ask for pictures of the broken parts, then pictures of your set-up, then receipts of the purchase, and then ask whether you kept the mount in the vehicle when not in use. In the end they term it "misuse" and turn down your claim. The company sold and the design, quality and service just aren't there anymore.

I'm looking everywhere for company to replace them. Chime in if you have candidates!

I've bought/used a couple of these, and while I dont trust them completey(I tether my phone to handlebar in case mount fails) it seems decent enough...

Check out the Quad Lock. I personally use the RAM X-Grip and it's okay, not great. But I've heard great things about the Quad Lock.

I don't care what you ride, just ride.

Hello Takeout,

See if you can get an equivalent gadget in your area.

I have this on my 2019 V650 and it is perfect. No shake, rattle and roll even when riding off road. And no obstructed view of the instrument panel. Attaching some pics. PM me for any questions.

Thanks for your suggestions guys, I ended up buying a second hand Quadlock, works great, only complaint would be I needed to buy a phone case for it, the case is quite thick which I'm not used to.

I see that you have your phone mount purchased already.

This is just in case someone else is looking for some RAM phone mount kits that work on the GEN 3 Versys handlebar. I've bought into the RAM eco system.

I have had some really good results with their phone, GoPro, Garmin GPS mounts. I have several on my bikes. It can be a little annoying with the phone X-Mount as if you are not placing the phone right, as mentioned it can depress the power or lower volume buttons. You just learn to put the phone on the mount more carefully. They have different sizes of X-Mounts, just depends on your phone model. I un-knowingly ordered two different sizes of phone X-Mounts for the same phone for my two Versys 650s.

RAM LARGE X-Mount handlebar kit I have for the Versys: RAM X-Grip Large Phone Mount with Handlebar U-Bolt Base

Another RAM handlebar kit I bought for my other Versys, I didn't realize it was different from the one above, standard size X-Mount? Still works with my iPhone X Max: RAM X-Grip Phone Mount with Handlebar U-Bolt Base

IMHO the above simple U-Bolt mounts work better than the RAM Torque Medium Rail Base

The Security Knobs to help prevent people messing with your mount adjustments or the X-Mount from growing legs: RAM MOUNTS Mixed Combination Pin-Lock Security Knob and Key Knob for 1" Diameter B Size Arm

I've damaged and lost some rubber X-Mount caps before: RAM X-Grip Rubber Cap 4-Pack Replacement
