Sargent seat difficult to remove

I've put a couple of thousand miles on my Sargent seat but it's still very difficult to unlatch. If I push down VERY hard in the right spot, it'll unlatch, but I can see how someone could break or bend the key trying to get it off. I've confirmed there's no interference with anything underneath (tool kit, Battery Tender leads, etc.). I've read that this is common with the Sargent seats for the Versys -- so has anyone found a solution? Shave down the rubber bumpers slightly? Shim the seat hook?

Ive got the Sargent seat as well. A little tight, scared me a bit at first as you dont want to force the key. You have to depress the seat as you turn the key. So I used some lithium grease in the latch and all contact points. And I cleaned the cable from the key lock to the latch with spray cable cleaner and gave the inside of the key lock a spray with WD. I thought of sanding the rubber bumpers a bit like you but working good after lube and cable cleaning. Alot better now. I love the seat, flat and perfect for me.

I don't have any issues with my Sargent seat. 2015 V650. Slight manufacturing tolerances could be the culprit. If lubing doesn't work, I'd try shimming the latch a tiny bit.
