DIY Madstad Bracket GPS Mount

Ever since handlebar mounting my old phone to serve as a GPS, I've been really wishing I had a more heads-up display mounted closer to the Versys instrument cluster. So, I figured I'd 3D print a part and modify my Madstad Engineering windscreen mount to add-on my RAM mount. Here's what I came up with!

Finished product:

I absolutely love my Madstad Engineering windscreen mount, and this is just making it better. It required drilling one hole in the center of the bracket, and the remainder of the bolts mount up in the standard Madstad holes.

The 3D printed bracket front:

How it'll be sitting on the Madstad bracket (we're looking at the windscreen side of the bracket here):

Drilling a hole in the Madstad bracket:

Plenty of clearance for windscreen adjustment:

Mounted up, without windscreen:

Finished product:

Overall I'm quite pleased with it. Tried it with a larger phone as well, and it should work great. Last step will be to snake a charging cable up to the phone, and I'll be good to go!

Nice! I use my phone for GPS on a handle bar mount Gen 2 with Givi windshield. I like your mounting location, looks like you should be able to see the phone with out taking your eyes off the road.

Very Nice! How do you like the MadStad bracket? Are you using the stock windshield, or the Mad Stad shield? I'm looking pretty seriously at this system. Thanks!

Hey Andy,

I really love the Madstad bracket. I ran without it with a really tall shield for a long while, but I'm loving having a smaller screen at a better angle. Plus, having the heads-up GPS mount there is pretty nice as well. I'm presently using a Givi shield with it, but I've tried the stock and a taller one on there too.
