Made my own tank protector for my 1st gen

Not being at all happy with what was available, I decided to make my own.

I started by cutting open a gallon Ziploc bag and taping it to my tank. I then traced a rough outline of the shape and marked where I thought the cuts needed to be to get it to fit the curves correctly. I then scanned the bag and opened it in Inkscape. I traced the outline I and refined the shape and printed it on 11x17 paper. I then cut the shape out and test fit to the tank. After a couple rounds of tweaking the shape, printing, and cutting it out, I came up with what I thought would work.

I bought some VVIVID carbon fiber automotive wrap from Amazon and had a buddy cut it on a vinyl plotter.

After a little work with a blow dryer and a squeegee I am very happy with the results. It was very easy to install, and the wrap seems super tough.

Nice piece of work and it seems to me worth the effort. Well done.

Links to the public Dropbox with the files are at the bottom of my original post.
I have edited it for clarity and with instructions for downloading the files.

Thanks to all for the kind words.

looks good only issue i can see is if you leak some gas on it it might eat the adhesive away . if that happens DONT WIPE IT. heat it with a heat gun or blow drier and dab at it and the adhesive should re-harden
