Moving rear turn signals

I feel like a bonehead for not figuring this out, but HOW do you actually remove the rear turn signals to relocate them. I just got some SW Motech rear luggage hardware for some Givi luggage, and want to relocate the rear signals. I understand the wiring will be too short, but I MUST be missing something BASIC to remove the signal from the mounting stalk. Is there a clip in there that I can't see? What's going on? Ergh...

The quick-plug connectors are under the seat in the rear compartment.
There is a screw fastener on the base of the stalk with a keeper plate that holds the rubber base into the socket for the lamp assembly. Remove all of this the the signal lamp assembly base pops out.

Thanks Chris and Joe for the advice. I removed the small phillip's screw on the rear left one last night, but no matter how much I tried to move it, I couldn't get it to budge -- I didn't try to pry the plate out for fear of breaking something that wasn't meant to be removed. I'll give it a shot tonight.
