Rim tape questions

So I am thinking about ordering some reflective rim tape. I know a couple people on here have used it. What width did you use? Did you use the pre-shaped or the kind with the applicator? Pictures and tips are appreciated. I think rim tape is an easy way to be more visible, and tie together the look of the bike.

I've done it three times: red 7mm on "Big Red"; 5mm yellow/green florescent on "the Green Hornet"; then removed that and put 7mm green on. I used the straight-line rolls and applicator, but my experience was that you have to be REALLY careful or you get areas where there will be a 'kink' in the tape. I installed with wheels on the V. NEXT time I'll do it while the wheels are off.

NOW for the disclaimer - I believe that my green '09 looked way better in yellow/green florescent 5mm, so I have another roll of that, and I'll put it on sometime when I feel energetic.... Here are pics of ALL THREE tapes.

Rim tape

I used the ProGrip kits with the applicator tool. Tucker Rocky has 'em in their catalog, and most dealers order from TR regularly. It really helped to have the bike on Pit Bull stands front & rear to rotate the wheel with one hand while holding the tool w/ the other hand. I spun the wheels when I was done, and there was so little variation, it looked like factory. There were several colors of reflective tape available, the white I chose is almost invisible in most lighting, but sure shows up w/ headlights or a camera flash. HTH

They are "Fieldsheer", and I have several sets (different ones!). I can't tell you the model these are, but I DON'T recommend them, as I've had zipper-not-zippering problems with these.

Has anyone found a red rim tape that matches the red for the 2011 V?
