Question 2008 front fender replacement?

Bought a red '08 about two months ago and have been perusing through this forum late into the nights like it's cocaine.

Anyway, I was being my usual scatterbrained self and walking the bike backwards without taking off the disc lock. The lock bumped the fender and cracked it near where it bolts on. It still works, and it stays on even at freeway speeds. But, it is compromised nonetheless, and it is noticeable if you're looking at the fender casually. At this point I see three options (four if you count doing nothing at all):

A) Get a new/used 08 front fender and replace it
B) Patch the underside with fiberglass to keep the crack from propagating, then bondo the crack from the topside, and repaint the whole fender.
C) Get a new black 2012 fender (I like how it looks) and try to fit it.

I'm leaning toward option C, because I think it looks a lot better, and as far as I can tell the parts it is attaching to are the same (aside from the '08 bracket that I will be removing).

What does everyone think? Does anybody know if there is a reason I can't use a 2012 fender? I can post pictures of the minor damage later. I'm leaning toward option C, falling back on option B. If I go with C, maybe somebody would even like to buy my red 08 fender off of me! I can do the fiberglass reinforcement, and leave it up to the buyer to choose to bondo/paint it.

I had one with a small crack next to one of the bolt holes. I wasn't planning on replacing it but came across a new one on ebay at a great price so i replaced it.

I do believe changing to a 2010+ fender should work fine, I put a 2010 black fender on my 09 green with no problems.

I like that much more than the stock fender. And even better in black, with the center cowling painted as well. Very nice looking bike.

Thanks for the input! GlowCat, that looks awesome! Definitely inspiring me to go ahead with it... I'll probably order it up in the next few weeks. Anyway, here's a photo detailing the damage. Hopefully you can see it, I admit, its pretty minor! I suppose I'm just looking for an excuse to spend the money...

A 2011 one would fit nicely.

I bought weljo's old fender. There's a product out (rather similar to JB Weld) I saw at a machine shop yesterday - it consists of 2 powders, plastic and aluminum, that you get into the crack, then squirt in their 'superglue'. ROCK hard in 10 seconds, then you could sand it. Price was around $20. I'll try to remember the name when I go back for my piece they're fixing.
