Ride the Rockies
I rode 450 miles this weekend with about 100 miles on the dirt. The weather was spectacular and the V performed perfectly with only stock tires. It was the first long ride with all my add-ons (Speedy lowering kit, Givi large shield, SW-Motech racks with Givi E21 bags and 12v outlet) and I am very happy with everything. I rode with a 1200GS and stayed tight at up to 85 mph over three mountain passes. The highlight was 30 miles of dirt road/trail up and over Marhshall Pass at 10,342 feet.
This was my first ride with new Vega boots and a Tourmaster Synergy electric liner. The boots were extremely comfortable and warm. The protection is a little light, but they were exactly what I was looking for. The liner was also great and it was too hot at the high setting. I wore a mesh jacket and wind/rain liner over the electric at at 45 degrees the low heat was perfect.
After years of looking at, and owning, various bikes, it is so rewarding to finally sit astride the bike that perfectly fits my needs and riding style. Here's to the Versys and all of us who recognize its virtues.
