A little bored today so I painted (with crash bars)....

Just painted the lower fairing, back sub-frame and the plastic piece that runs underneath the tank to the seat. Used the ColorRite paint system. About to put a few coats of clearcoat on the pieces and them let them cure overnight. Soon to order the SW-Motech crash bars and paint them silver like lanesplitter did. I was going to paint them red like WT100 however I think the silver will contrast nicely.......

Well, I couldn't wait any longer. The clearcoat was dry to the touch so I had to install the painted pieces on the bike. The color match isn't perfect but it's pretty darn close. For a rattle can job (ColorRite), it turned out about how I expected. If I was to do it again I'd find someone with a professional sprayer. Overall I like it a lot. In person, it makes the bike look not so top heavy and it definitely is sportier looking. Can't wait to get some crash bars painted silver.....

After staring at the bike for a while, the red crash bars may be the way to go...may even paint the plastic silver guard underneath the tank and above my lower fairing red.

Very nice indeed. IMHO it makes the machine look much more balanced.

The only disappointing thing is that Color Rite isn't "right" after all. Still, it's pretty spectacular - well done!

Color Rite is also very expensive. I've had best luck with "Volvo Passion Red" from ebay. (not the one on Amazon). Yes i've tried them all. lol

The trick it to do a primer/ base coat of bright white and then just enough red to cover. Too much red and it starts going dark. My color match is spot on. Just the clear coat that gives it away. But i dig a mat finish anyway so i like it.

Been thinking about this for awhile but wasn't sure if I'd like it. I'm definitely going to pull everything now and have it done by a professional. That really makes the lines flow much better.
