Nope. Not that I am aware of. They all take a little finessing.

I was under the impression the barkbusters were, but by the time you buy everything they are close to $150.

I put Barkbusters on mine last week without any difficulty whatsoever. They are pricey, but it might be worth it considering the ease of installation.

Powermadd I tell ya!

This is what I used....

http://www.powermadd.com/products/st...handguard.html

I did not get the version with the wrap around bar end doo-dahs. What is cool about them is that you can pop out the standard guards to have a mesh like guard in warm weather and if you want you can pop in an even bigger guard for when it is cold. I like the way they look too.

I got mine here at Dana Creech racing. I paid $61 including shipping and the extra large guard option.

The bar mount is very slim but seems sturdy. These are more for weather protection methinks than bark busting.

I put V Strom ones on mine....the right side was no problem, the left side I had to make fit, not that hard. I used the hardware that came with the hand guards on the right side.

There is step, by step instructions with pics on the UK Versys forum.

Has anyone used these for winter riding how good are they at blocking the wind from your hands?

I have them on my FJR, and the Versys........If I had a choice between hand guards, or heated grips in cold weather...I would chose the hand guards. The added bonus is in rain, the will keep water off of your hands, and help even waterproof gloves stay dry. Best thing i've put on a bike!

AAParatrooper, I want to put on the Barkbusters but I have the Givi large windshield. Do you know if they'll fit without interference with the wider screen? Does all the hardware come with the Barkbuster or do you need a separate attachment/adapter kit?

Unhappy handgards

I went to my local Buel dealer and compared my versys handlebar/lever layout to an '08 Buel Ulysess. The measurements looked perfect so I bought a set of Buell handguards to put on the Versys. I have not yet had time to put them on though.
I also bought a set of DualStar grip heaters with a variable heat control.
I have bad circulation in my fingers. My fingers get numb and turn white/blue at the least bit of cold.

I hope to install these sometime in the next few weeks or so.

I posted info about my setup in the thread linked by dallasdon, so I won't repeat it all here.

To summarize, though, the Acerbis Multiconcept Touring handguards are about the biggest (most shielding) that I've seen and they work with the stock handlebars and any windshield option out there. I am currently running a Givi shield, which is about the worst case scenario when it comes to handguard contact.

I ordered some Powermadd handguards from Dana Creech and I'm having a heckuva time getting a response from these folks. I got an invoice # on Nov. 25th (no tracking #) and haven't heard from them since after a few emails. Anyone else ordered from them?

Don't order from the Creach site!

I found this on the Creach site, under the "Guestbook" tab:

"October 30th 2008

Do not attempt to order from this site. You don't get product and you don't get responses to e-mails. You get no answer when you call and can't leave messages because the voice box is full. I have made attempts everyday for the last week and a half to no avail. "

I never tried to call but I'm tired of waiting after 3 emails and almost 2 weeks. It occurred to me to try my local bike shop and whadda ya know, they carry them. I ordered them online from Palmetto Cycle Center in Spartanburg, SC... hopefully this will go smoother.

Have you installed the Buel hadguard yet? I'd like to know how they fit and how much.

I put Barkbusters on my V and the process was simple. You also need to purchase new bar ends, and the mounting hardware. I got mine from twisted throttle. I also have a Givi windscreen and there is some contact. I've read that if you make adjustments to the hand guards and the handle bar this can be eliminated. My biggest complaint is that the Barkbusters seem to be made for bikes without bar ends. Son on the V with bar ends most of the wind protection tends to be at the ends of the handle bars. If I get around to it I'll snap some pic which should show this better than I can describe.

I have not had a chance to install the Buel handguards yet, and my bike is now put away in the shed, and is now under almost a foot of snow. I won't get to it until April now. I think all the parts cost me about $50, but I will check when I get home tonight and see if I have the receipt. I'm pretty sure the Buel handguards will fit, and I like the way they look so much that I will make them fit regardless.

Handgards

I installed the Cycra handgards. These are the all plastic ones but they work well and are stout. They do a good job at blocking the cold. I removed the bar end weights and don't even miss them. Notice in a couple of shots I used the bar end weights, with a 1" spacer behind, the as tip over protection on the fairing.
