mirrors

I've had a problem with my mirrors moving counter clockwise while I ride. I want to know if there is a way to tighten it up a bit so it doesn't move. If anyone has any pics of how to get it done it would be greatly appreciated.

On my '09 it goes like this: Remove the rubber boot, unscrew the top mounting nut from the bottom one. Inside of the top nut/housing, there is an 8mm nut attached to the mirror stem. Screw all of this back together without torquing down, get the stem lined up where you want it to stay, then remove the assembly and tighten the 8mm nut inside the upper housing.

Good luck!

I hated my stock mirrors so just for giggles I tried some very cheap eBay specials: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MIRRO...Q5fAccessories

Believe it or not, they are 10X better than the stockers, both in the ease in which they secure and completely eliminate the rotation problem, and also for vibrations. They are not "vibe free" but are noticeably more clear than the stock mirrors at 60 - 70 mph.

But if you are trying to solve the rotation issue on the stockers, I agree with the above post, but I would also add using blue locktite on the inner nut and washers (inside the top nut housing), and on the large mounting nut threads under the rubber boot.

Thumbs up

Nice looking mirrors, and a great price!

The stockers on the 09 are notoriously crappy. Especially the left one. Just buy new mirrors now as you WILL continue to have problems with them..lol

I just stopped by my local ( Aprilia ) dealer and they were surprised to find that Aprilia Tuono mirrors ( 2006-2009 ) were only about $20 a piece. I ordered a set to try, the CRG's work OK but I have to look down to see behind, might be better to have them higher. I looked at some on a Tuono that was being serviced and they are wider ( i.e. no extenders needed ) and appear LOWER than the stock. Just what I wanted...

Here are the Aprilia mirrors. Mine came in about 2 weeks ago, they're great!
I have my small spot mirrors on too.

Thanks for the help ...finally got it done. They now hold and I don't have to constantly adjust them while i ride. I have to say it was harder then I thought to get access to that small bolt inside. fyi it was 10mm inside. I think i will try it out another week or so and see if I need to put some locktight on it.

Good luck que. Mine would get snugged up, then over time they always came loose again. Nothing like a floppy mirror while you are hauling a$$ down the freeway
