Kuryakyn Highway Pegs

I just installed a set of Kuryakyn Highway pets and with the exception of being chrome, do a great job and look good. At least that's my opinion. (have to say that for as much as I paid! $140 including tax). Now I have a set of Roxy risers coming in to put the bars a little higher and further back to work with the highway pegs. I'll post the results when that happens.

Highway Pegs

Nice pics of the highway pegs. Now I'm going to have to go out and sit on my bike and see if my legs would be comfortable where you have your highway pegs. If they are I'll be looking at getting some highway pegs to mount like you did.

These are the 2" drop pegs. I believe they come in as low as 4" drop pegs. Check with a local dealer.

I have a set on mine also. I kind of like them. Sitting with the feet up that high lets the 'nads breathe, and I can stretch my legs out and rest the boot tops on them.

Lot's O choices here;

Looks like a few different styles that would fit the V.

Looks great Don!! I just had to "copy" the mod my brother. Even though I swore I'd never chrome one bit on this bike (as I've done SO MUCH on my past cruisers.) I just couldn't pass this one up. Kuryakyn makes nice stuff (trust me I know, I've spent thousands on their stuff in the past.)

Here's the best deal in town on your exact setup ($116.95 shipped.) I used these guys exclusively in the past... i.e. I trust them whole heartily. Hence, I used them again. Matt & Terry (if they're still there,) are top notch customer service oriented folks.

Thanks so much for sharing and the pics!

Jim

BTW - Your oil looks a bit full there brother.

Thanks for the update on where to get them. Like shutting the barn door after the horse has left. I paid $140.00. Cry, Cry, Cry.............. Like you, I didn't want to use chrome, but overall I don't think it looks bad at all.

My bike was leaning a little to the right when the picture was taken so the oil does look high, but it isn't. Thanks for caring.

I found this style at twisted trottle. They go good with the engine guards i bought for my V and they come in different sizes. I need a set on before I go to Daytona in a couple weeks.

Totally stole your idea with some old parts I had lying around..tx.

If I like the position, going to get some lightweight pegs instead of Kuryakin's which are a bit heavy.

I found a used set of pegs very similar to these on Ebay. Also chrome.

Being anti-chrome like most of us here, my plan is to either just pain them flat black or attack them with a Dremel & wire brush wheel and then paint them. Just something to ruff them up a little bit

I've got a colleague that can get stuff powder coated for me for free. I have never asked about powder coating over chrome. Is that do-able?

I was thinking about prying off the rubber bits and getting the pieces powder coated and then gluing the rubber parts back on with Gorilla Glue or something. If that didn't work, I could always come up with some sort of rubber sleeve to cover the peg for traction. The ones I bought have a little lip on the outside edge, so I might even be able to get by without any rubber on them at all.

Any thoughts on the powder coating over chrome question would be most helpful.

Thanks

Gorilla Glue is polyurethane (like foam in a can) and will expand and make a mess. Try something like Liquid Welder etc.

Chris,

Absolutely! PC over chrome is no problem at all for someone who knows what they're doing. I may PC my Kury pegs & mounts after awhile. I really don't want chrome on this bike, but Don's setup looks so good as is, I may just leave well enough alone (and save some $$$ as well.)

The chrome look on the pegs is really growing on me. I think I'm going to be happy the way it is.

Thanks guys. I should receive the pegs today or tomorrow so I will check them out and see if I want to coat them or not. Glad to hear that it's an option.

Hey Dallasdon, what happened to your home made pegs coming out of the frame?

I decided they looked to "dorky" and started hiding in the bushes so people wouldn't see them! Since I wanted to ride and not get shunned, I put the new ones on. Now I don't have to hide anymore.

Hey Don, Did you connect the pegs to Hepco Becker crash bars and if so do they fit on the bars snug.
