Decent Flush Turn Signals?

As everyone here knows, the front turn signals on the Versys are probably the worst designed pieces of equipment ever, and are the first point of contact in almost any fall. I have the SW-motech engine guard installed now, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of any easy to install turn signal alternatives to keep damage to a minimum?

Unless you move them away from the headlight, moving them inboard could pose a safety concern because the headlight might mask them.

I want my lights wider to present more conspicuity to oncoming drivers.

I don't plan on dropping the bike.

I installed R&G Racing brand Aero LED front turn signals on my '15 V650. I'd dropped the bike twice at zero mph (once in the garage, once in a parking lot), to have the turn signal hit the pavement and crack the plastic fairing!

The R&G product is very well made, with aluminum for the main structure. Nothing against plastic, but these things really are durable, not cheap crap. The LED is much brighter than the factory units. They sell a cheap simple conversion adapter resistor which plugs into the original harness and then plugs into the turn signal. Without the adapter the flash rate would be all wrong because the V flasher unit is designed for incandescent bulbs. So don't be intimidated by switching to LED turn signals, it is super simple plug-and-play.

Adapting the physical mounting was the only bit of fiddling for me. I see now R&G makes an adapter plate for a couple of $. I bought some plastic bits off of eBay and then trimmed them and glued them into the original location on the fairing using super glue. It was easy but took an hour of filing off the plastic until it fit and then waiting for the glue to dry. The R&G adapter plates look like a nice solution.

Here's the thread I posted on the mod including photos. http://www.kawasakiversys.com/forums...n-signals.html

There are plenty of 8mm or 10 mm diameter stalk short turn signals, but it took a while to find:
a) the connector adapters cables for 2 round pins to kawa's version
b) the kawa compatible led flasher relay (not current dependent)
c) the impossible to find adapter plates (I cut my own in 1/16" thick garbage bin black plastic).
d) bright ones. I got the Toxic's Arrow (2.25 inches, 15 leds, about as bright as the original)

I'm not too worried about having them 1" to the fairing; look at the ninja 650r, same headlight and they are flush mount.
As long as it can be seen from the opposite side at a let's say 30 degrees away, it's fair.
