Ravetech Radiator Guard part 2
Some may recall that late last fall I talked about a radiator guard that came from Taiwan that got mangled in a USPS facility for an extended period. The mfg., Ravetech sent me another unit even though they had not gotten everything worked out between the two postal services. (probably wanted to stay off the PayPal conplaint list)
I went to install the guard last weekend only to find that it is not properly designed for the Gen 1 and Gen 2 Versys. The 2 bottom brackets should be flush with the guard, but were designed the same as the top bracket that is offset about 1.2" to reach the back of the radiator connection point. Tired of dealing with this for months, and not wanting to go through the return process, we cut, bent, grinded and drilled a little bit over the weekend, and made the damn thing fit.
The guy who runs Ravetech, Alan, had been very responsive through the original return process, but on this issue, he thinks I have an after market radiator. They make a nice product, but it is not properly engineered for our bikes. I think the only other thing they make for the Gen 1 and 2 is a skid plate. Any body else try to use one of their radiator guards?
