Two-toning a Gen 1 Versys 650...

A Canadian member, after making his black '07 V into a 'street-fighter', wanted to get rid of the excess bits, rather than throwing them out, and I sent him $100US to cover postage (I'll put some of the 'bits' into FOR SALE for a share of the $100 I paid, sometime).

In the meantime - I was replacing one of my LED 'Bullet-lights' which meant the fairings had to be removed. Once I got the lights finished, and WORKING - I looked at my red V, the black fairings I'd received, then decided to 'match' the Gen 3 paint scheme...(?).

Here's the result - what do you think?

I ALSO have a spare front fender I can spray black, as well as the silver plastic pieces on each side (by the rad and by the rear shock) I could spray TOO....

Looks good. Those grey bits painted red to match would make it look even better IMO.

IF I continue w/ this, they'll probably end up black too.

Nice color combo Ed. As you know i sprayed my silver covers black and never looked back. I always thought the silver panels were out of place.

Kind of like the Gen III eh? A lot of black and a splash of color.

Thanks Jeff. The 'silver' is slowly becoming black, as my riding pants remove more and more silver (over 67,000 miles...)!

But - I'll probably spray them black even IF I keep it (mostly) RED.

I like it!

At first glance, my brain said "HONDA!?"

It must be the red / two-tone color scheme.

The Gen 1 Versys just continues to flaunt its versatility, many years later!

At this point I think I'm leaning towards putting the red fairings back on, so IF you'd like the black fairings, PM me and we can chat.

How about the Red Bellied Black Snake, a genuine Aussie snake

From Australia's 10 most dangerous snakes - Australian Geographic

The red-bellied black snake is somewhat less venomous than many other Australian snakes, but you're more likely to come across it in urban areas and its bite is certainly no picnic, causing significant illness and requiring medical attention.

Red-bellied blacks are one of the few large venomous snakes still found in the Sydney region, and at 2m-long are capable of eating other snakes. They are not particularly aggressive and will escape from humans if possible, but when threatened will flatten their bodies and hiss loudly.

The venom causes blood-clotting disorder and muscle and nerve damage, enough to knock you off your feet, but rarely deadly. No deaths have been confirmed from bites by this species.

Although I have had Miss Jaffa (Burnt Orange 2007 Versys) for a while, I still have a lot to learn.

I thinks the Red and Black looks good from some angles, but not great, and i'm not really sure why... so I understand why you might be going back to the stock color scheme.

I really like my Gen 1 with the Gray and Black two tone scheme, and of course the red shock for some flair.

Not the best angles, but you get the point; this bike is a 2008 that used to be Red.
