windscreen mount GPS for 2009: one solution

There are limited options for a non-handlebar mount GPS for the 2009 so I made my own - some photos of the mount process below.

We took a piece of steel, cut it to shape and spray-painted it flat black, added some stainless hardware, a ram mount purchased online (Arkon 4-Hole AMPS to 17mm Ball Adapter), a few rubber washers of various sizes, then hard-wired it to the license plate light circuit, adding an inline fuse.

It works very well - no vibration, no obstruction...

Excellent! I was just about to womp up a center mount bracket for a Zumo 550 gps myself. I like yours better (than what I was musing with, in my head, anyway).

Where's a good place to buy those tall rubber cylinders you have there? Are they just rubber stoppers (corks) that have a hole drilled through them? If they are "rubber washers", they are the thickest rubber washers I've ever seen.

Nice work!

Thanks for the comments - yes, the washers are actually surplus test-tube rubber stoppers (holes easily drilled through)...strangely, I just happened to have a bunch in the garage (https://www.amazon.com/GSC-Internati...857849&sr=1-77)
