Hepco Be6cker Skid guards for 2015-16, nice!

It finally looks like the Model 3 Vs. 650's are starting to get the better accessory parts now, lucky guys. Look how sweet that skid guard fits. Ebay is just a link below and may not be the best price.

Model 2 HB skid-plates are $50 more than Model 3's, but they are the only one's with 5mm thick aircraft aluminum (the rest look like they are all 3mm thick - the 5mm HB aircraft aluminum thickness is 67% thicker!) I'll have to bite the bullet on this one.

Hepco & Becker 810.2510 Skid Plate for Kawasaki Versys 650 (2010-2014): Accessories International

And a little protection for my headlight's while I'm at it. I assume it's a thick optically clear plastic outer lens, and it's hard to find cheap valuable products for any bike model.

Just a correction on your math: 3mm is 40% thinner than is 5mm.... (OR you can say that 3mm is 60% of 5mm....)

5/3 = 1.67.

OK, 5mm (aircraft aluminum) is 67% thicker than 3mm was what I was thinking. It sounds more impressive than 40% thinner (i.e. - a 'real' skid plate and not a gravel deflector.)

Thank you for your astute insight.

Actually, I was looking at the Powerbronze (abs plastic) Belly pan for $190, and thought that it would be mush if anything hit it. The HB skid plate has almost the same aerodynamics, plus better structural integrity, and envelopes the exhaust heat of the exhaust pipes for better performance (similar to exhaust tape or BMW F650 Rotax engines exhaust pipes running next to the cylinders to heat them up for better performance.)

So I'll almost have a completed fairing shape except for the illusive upper knee cowlings on the 2015+ Vs. 650's. But at $400/pair of knee cowlings, that will have to wait a long time. I may get another new Vs. 650 like you Fast Eddie, some day: no other motorcycle seems to have comparable value to me.

These side fairings (behind beak and above radiator) would be the thing to complement the Mark 2 Vs. 650 along with the HB skid plate.

Accessory International was the only one I could find for HB skid plates, like last year when I got my HB crash bars, they were the only ones who carried them then.

For 2006 to 2014:

Hepco & Becker 810.2510 Skid Plate for Kawasaki Versys 650 (2010-2014): Accessories International

Ebay for 2015-16, $50 cheaper.

** If you are talking about the White bike 2 posts back, everything on that one is from Thailand and can be found on ebay and about half the price of the HB skid plate. ymmv

Tell us how it works out. Be careful with 3mm AL used for a real skid plate. 5mm AL may not be enough either to be used as a real skid plate, but I'm going to drive like it's not there and will not depend on it

Cool, will let you know when it arrives here by next month!
I am not going to do serious off-road, just fire roads...so I think it should at least protect a little bit....
