Madstad Install

I only put about 50 miles on my bike before it started snowing, but that was enough to tell there is a HUGE difference between the stock windscreen and the Madstad I had on my KLR.

I had thought to sell the system for the KLR and buy the new one for the Versys, but I guess I couldn't wait.
That, and I am a cheap bastard and didn't really want to take a loss on the money I spent for the first one, knowing that I would have to sell it cheaper than what it had cost originally.

So... I bent up some brackets to mount the "Adventure Slim" windscreen that is for an '08 and up KLR 650 to the brackets on the Versys.

It sits rather tall in the pictures here, but it has a LOT of adjustment up and down as well as tilting out at the top.

Hardware is a combination of the Madstad parts and some stainless bits I had around, and not 100% guaranteed to stay.

Brackets may also change before I am happy with it, but that will have to wait until I get to ride it again and decide exactly where I want the windscreen to sit.

Definitely needs to come down some though!

And yes... my bike is living in a box trailer right now, my back yard looks like a salvage yard, and I need to build a garage so bad it hurts.

If'n I do it, I gunna git a wippin .... OK! I do it!!!

From the snow around your place, I suggest you build your shop W/OUT a roof, that way it'll be... "so bad it hurts....

GREAT write-up, BTW!

Thanks!

I have been thinking I should have changed the title though, since it's more of a modification than a normal install.
The real Madstad kit for these bikes would be the best to have, I am just being cheap!
I may still put it all back in the box and sell it come spring when it will be easier to unload, and then get the right one.
Any Madstad stuff I have seen for any bike is usually top notch and works great.
On my KLR, I rode around with my helmet visor open all the time, even at freeway speeds (with safety glasses on!) after installing the Madstad.
Very impressive results for me.

If'n I do it, I gunna git a wippin .... OK! I do it!!!
