Recommended clutch/brake levers

Anyone replace their levers? I'm looking for a set that provides better reach. I'm 5'11", but I think I must have smaller hands. Every bike I've owned I've always had to change the setting so the levers are as close to the grips as possible. Just busted my clutch lever and about to install heated grips anyway (which will push my hands further back), so thought I would upgrade the controls.

Any recommendations? And reason why?

I have Pazzos on my V. I've used them on other bikes, and also have used CRG and AGV. The shorties seem to have a better "dog-leg" bend that helps with the reach.
All have more adjustment than the stock levers.

Just stay away from the cheap ebay knock-offs.

why do you say that? I and many people I know have the eBay knock offs on our bikes. I have compared them first hand to a friends Pazzos, and do not see a difference, certanly not $120+ difference.
I highly recomend the Ebay adjustable levers. the only knock I have against them, is if you store your bike outside without a cover they do fade quicker.

2009+ Versys has a different brake lever... There are many machined aluminum adjustable levers, all in Hong Kong and China.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw...lever&_sacat=0

Some nice folding short or extendable, adjustable machined aluminum levers.

The cheap levers look good and may work well under normal use, but how do they stack up under panic, emergency braking?. Would they bend?
How much less braking pressure would the short levers give when max pressure is required?.

Riding around Los Angeles you get to test your front brake quite regularly. No issues. i have large hands and when i grab the levers i get 3 fingers on the levers. First time i have ever used short levers didn't think i would like them but would never go back to the longer levers now.

Well if you measure your hand around the knuckles palm flat mine are 10 inches which in most gloves are an XL.

There have been several cases of them not being machined to the exact tolerances, resulting in the brakes not fully releasing. Then they heat up too much and lock up. YMMV.

The china ones are very tempting. Great features and price.

But a lot of people have had problems with them:

http://www.gixxer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=335452

Some of them you can avoid if you're aware of them.

But you can never be fully confident that the metal won't fail in a critical moment.

You won't get levers closer than with ASV but they don't make one for clutch side. I replaced my clutch side perch and love my ASVs.

a BIG plus one...I know a guy who went down because his brakes didn't release BECAUSE of his cheap Hong Kong levers...He thought he was saving money and being smart...As my mechanic said..(Mom too)..you get what you pay for...

when installing anything related to a safety device (such as brakes) don't just assume that everything that bolts on is perfect. always check function to see if any adjustments/modifications are required.

thats the main problem with the cheap (poor quality control) parts.
