Lowering kit installed

My good buddy that is a mechanic installed the lowering kit and the footstand, it works great!!

Did you lower the front as well? If not, what changes have you noticed in the handling of the bike at low and high speeds, when making turns or changing lanes?

Forgot to mention to check your chain slack!! Mine was tight when I lowered it.

I assume you made the proper adjustment... if so, how involved was this? Were you able to use you rear stand for this, coz I know to lower the rear suspension, the bike needs to be up using jack stands.

Don't know your wrenching skill level, but to me the chain adjustment was easy.

Rear stand to get the wheel up. Remove cotter pin, loosen axel bolt, adjust tensioners until the chain is at the proper slack, tighten the axel to 80 ft pounds (if memory serves me correctly). Remove bike from stand and check slack while bike is on kickstand. If good, install new cotter pin. If not, back up to adjust and re-check.

Lowes carries cotter pins that fit our bike. Never reuse a cotter pin. They are cheap, I usually buy a few packs at a time.

Thanks for the pics.

What did your buddy put under the WR lowering kit's bottom cutout? It looks like an aluminum washer. I hope that this is not the washer supplied with the kit because this is not where it is supposed to go.
Are you planning to install the hugger in the future?

The installation was made by a friend of mine that is a mechanic, we lowered the front about 3 cm or a bit less than a inch , siding the front forks. the handling is as good as it was before, at least it seems the same to me, and I can put my feet flat on the ground and still have a little room =)
Yeah , that's the aluminium washer that came with the kit, we put it there until I get a rear huger , we had buy a couple of aluminum washers for the inside of the main bolt.
And yes we had to cut the foot stand, since by lowering the bike the stands remains too long and the bike doesn't lean, but with foot stand kit you cut the stand and install it, I actually like it better , seems more sturdy and has a bigger surface to stand on.

I'd highly recommend using the washer that came with the kit the way it was supposed to be used in the installation instructions and using compression washers under the cutout area until you get the hugger installed.

Ahhh perfect!!, I'll change to it's right place, and in the mean time you said I can put a stack of washer in there?, can I just leave it empty or it really needs the washers?

You can leave it empty for a short period of time, before intsalling the hugger.
Compression washer(s) are recommended between the lowering kit and the hugger (one or a few, depending on the hugger's thickness in that area) to fill the space of the ABS line that normally would be under the cutout. Also, the compression washer will help with compressing the hugger down.

lowering kit washer

Well, My friend helped me out, we changed the washer to its proper position, also adjusted the chain to have more slack.

I installed mine but didn't put any compression washers in with the hugger. What exactly is a compression washer? Are they rubber? Or do I need to fill that space with metal washers to support the lowering link? If I do that, I'll likely end up crushing/breaking the tab of the hugger I have under there. I modified my hugger so the bolt goes through a hole in the hugger, with the hugger under the lowering link where the ABS line would otherwise be.

Can be of many material

Usually metal on mechanical device

Are bent like a mushroom head and meant to give resistance betweem bolts and nuts or flange to make sure it doesn't unscrew itself

Also like a lock washer ...
