How much space do you need between the rear tire and exhaust pipe?

I just installed an Arrow full system and there is very little room between the back tire and exhaust tip when the bike in on the kickstand. (Approx. 2 or 3 centimeters at best.) Is that acceptable or no? If not, how much space is required?

Thanks, love this forum for all the wealth of information that is shared between fellow Versys nuts!

I noticed the same thing when I installed an Arrow slip-on on my '08 V. There is more space btw the muffler tip and the tire when you are sitting on the bike, and the suspension is compressed. I've stopped worrying about it.

I too added the arrow slip-on and felt very uncomfortable with the tip/tire gap. Adding a couple teeth to the rear sprocket helped increase the gap to approx .5".

Those who hesitate are not only lost, but miles from the next exit.

It's very close to the tire after the Arrow installation. However, I have 21k miles on mine and have jumped a few hills with no problem.

Thanks for the feedback. I won't worry about it for now.

The mod that I was thinking is remove the silencer and grind off the end that connects to the header pipes by about a half inch. That way the silencer could be pushed foward and make more room.
