Low gel seat review

So I've run the low gel seat since about August as my primary seat. Let me just say during the fall and summer it was great for the most part. One thing I noticed was anything longer than a few hours and my butt starting getting numb.

Summer/Fall riding: I enjoyed my short jaunts greatly. The lower seat helped my confidence with this being the tallest bike I've ridden. Comfort was great for a few hours and I never felt that it was a detriment. Stock seat is actually more comfortable though.

Winter riding: OH MY LOWER BACK!!! I've felt every bump and bounce. Yesterday was pretty much the last straw. I hit some country roads on the way in to work with my boss on his bike showing me his route in to our office. Every pothole and dip was agony. Now my lower back has been playing havoc with me the past three weeks but my goodness this was just way to much. But this morning I came to the realization that the low gel seat in the cold just isn't as comfortable.

While I loved the low gel seat during the summer and fall, during the winter I've noticed the comfort level declines greatly and its shock absorbtion just doesn't do it. I was thinking of doing the lowering link on the V and now I'm totally committed to it and will be ordering one shortly so I can get the stock seat back on for the extra padding.

My opinion:

Great for warm weather but heaven forbid you run this in anything below 50 degrees by itself.

"Why do I ride?"

Interesting comments, thnx

I've thought of trying to find one of them, being of short leg and all. No doubt they have that "scooped out" look, and that makes me hesitate.

Have ridden with a seat like that before and hated it. It's like there's no room to move around at all? And yeah, it does seem to be hard on the lower back...

Had my oem seat modified by Spencer. He got it a little lower and put in the "long distance" foam. I still might go with lowering links but dang really enjoy the bike being up so high. You can see more and it seems to make you stand out, not to mention the suspension being as designed.

Right now just getting my left foot down flat at stops, the other on the peg...
