Yoshimura slip on...remap required?

Gentlemen,

I was thinking about installing a Yoshimura trc stainless slip-on exhaust on my 09 versys.
Am I going to need a remap?
Will power or fuel economy change?

No need to Re-map. On the power and fuel economy thats a good question i have not check my milage since putting it on and on the power if there is a gain its not much but the bike seems to run with less restriction and it sounds so much better.

No need to remap. Your mileage wont change either.

yes according to all my dyno runs a slip on with a stock map doesnt add any power until you tune it. i gained only .5 hp, then with the tune i gained 4-5. just get a pcV with auto tune and i will send you the afr table.

Forget about tuning...its a lot of money for that small gain that won't make enough of a difference to leave me on my slip on only V. Trust me I been down this road and it was an expensive lesson. For decel pop disconnect the pair valve and adjust the throttle position sensor...no more pop.

A 5 hp gain is almost 10%. That's not chicken feed. This bike runs WAY lean, and the driveability gained along with the HP makes it well worthwhile to go to a PC-V and Autotune. I've been running one for almost 2 years now.

The exhaust pop is caused by the PAIR valve dumping air into the header. Once the stock muffler and cat is removed, the air is no longer needed. Lift the gas tank, and you'll see the PAIR hose running down the center of the air box. Pull it off the fitting and stick something in the hose to block it off, then replace the hose. No more popping.

Has anyone tried the dual outlet version of the Yoshi slip-on? I really like the look of it and if it deepens the tone I'm all for that! As for which material, I prefer titanium. I don't like the way some carbon mufflers discolor with heat and time. Cheers!

even w/the stock pipe this bike needs a remap. once you've ridden one w/a remap, you'll be wanting it...

So I understand the PC-V but what is involved with the auto-tune? Do you have to install a sensor in the exhaust? Is it a ready fit or do you have to weld in a piece?

Some slip-ons like my Leo Vince come with a sensor bung. Others will have to have one welded on. The Autotune comes with a bung, and you'll have to cut a hole in the pipe and have someone weld it up. It goes in front of the muffler at a slight upward angle pointing to the left side just behind the crankcase. The connector on mine is zip tied to the LH lower cover bracket.

Not quite. The PAIR hose has to be plugged up. This is mandatory.

After you load the map, you'll need to enable the Autotune.

The Autotune is limited to a 20% change. Every so often, plug in your laptop and pull up the trim table. It will show the extent that the autotune has adjusted the fueling. You then have to go to the top toolbar, hit Autotune, then Accept Trims. This will incorporate the trims into the fuel map, and the trim table will go back to zero. Eventually, the system will correct the map so the trims will be within the 20% range, and you will then be operating in true closed loop mode.

plugging the pair valve is far from mandatory!!! I did all my testing on a dyno taking out the pair valve does nothing for your power or gas mileage. why do you think its mandatory, i have around 60-70 pulls on the dyno and all my stuff is fine.

If anything the pair valve would help by keeping the exhaust burning better. which will heep the exhaust header hotter. which will make the air flow fast. which will help your torque.
