What are these things?

I look at CL just for grins and to learn about other motorcycles. Here are a couple terms that come up for the KLR650. What is a
thermobob and a doohickey that most have added. And here's one from our own forum - what are the chickenstrips on tires?
Thanks for adding to my education!

Forty years away from 2 wheel fun. Sure is great to be back smelling the roses!!!

Thermobob = add on aftermarket auxillary thermostat.

Doohickey = balancer chain adjustment lever stock one tends to break.

Chicken strips = edge of tire you don't use.

Funny as we were briefly talking about the quality engineering and strength of the OEM design in a thread about sprockets and throttle tubes. Quality OEM parts and design are best, etc.. I kept thinking about the famed KLR doohickey... And am like, Nah, OEM design, isn't always all that!

other web sites call the center of your tire worn flat chicken strips because you haven't used the edges. Dumb me, I called it a sanity strip
