Tank removal

Following the instructions carefully since this is the first time on the V.
I'm having trouble inserting the "minus screwdriver into the slit"(jokes may proceed). there is not enough slack in the fuel line to get even a small screwdriver lined up. So to you guys who do this, what can I do? Tank is jacked up on wooden blocks as far as I dare.

I'll try again, the instructions in the manual must be in Japanese

jdrocks, thank you for the picture. I was inserting the screwdriver in the slot on the red cap rather than under it. I totally misunderstood the instructions

Garage
I use a piece of wood 7cm x 15cm x 2cm to chock up the tank.
I remove the rear bolts and metal bracket from the tank, lift the rear up and put the wood under to rear bolt tab sideways so the tank is lifted 7cm and rests on top of the frame cross member.

That way I have now got both hands free to undo the the LHS breather hoses from the tank 1st, then I can undo the tank electrical connection.

Lastly I then can raise the tank further by rotating the wood chock to the 15cm length.
Stick a flat screwdriver under the red clip and twist it open.

Place a rag under the fuel connector and pull it off the fuel pump and then lift the tank off the bike.

I use the same wood chock under the tank rear tab sideways 7cm high when I put the tank on the floor to raise it and keep it from sitting on the fuel pump and bending the fragile fuel hose connector.
