Larger Rear Tire?

Will a 160/55-17 fit on the Versys without any problems ?

I meant a 180/55-17 or 180/60-17

180 is too wide for the rim.
edit: read this short story about tire sizes.

In a world full of people, only some want to ride. Isn't that crazy?

I'm so happy to see this posted. I've been wondering what will fit in that swing arm.

I fit a Shinko Advance 170/60 on the rear. The Advance's look to run a little flat to me and squeezing them onto the 4.5 rim fills them out pretty well. I took some rough numbers off the stock Dunlop with some calipers and they were almost the same. Shinko may have had some hight over the Dunlop but not much.

Falling down is your bodies way of saying you just screwed up.

Sorry, I'm going to bump and hijack...

You can fit a larger tire but as mentioned above it will change the shape of the contact pattern. I just put some 170's on my V (like 2K ago) and they are noticeably twitchier than the OEM 160's.

I'd say if you want to put a bigger tire on get something like this: http://www.blueridgeperformance.net/brpwheelkits.html
And put a Ninja ZX-6R or 636 rim on it.

also this: http://www.twfracing.com/zparts.html

Towards the bottom, but I'm confused why this does not include the center piece.

Garage
It will work but not optimally. Handling quality will be diminished. If you wish to use a 180 tire and have it work as designed you need a wider rim.'

It's also adds much undesired unsprung and spinning weight to the wheel.

I have two friends that run a 150 and they say that handling is better.

I've run rear Tourance 150/70 x 17 and like it. Right now I have a Kenda BIG BLOCK 150/70 x 17 on BIG RED, and it seems to corner pretty well (altho' I'm NOT trying to put a knee down....)!
