What colour should the header pipes be?

An ex-motorcycle rider at work looked at the V the other day and commented that the engine must be running hot to cause discolouration of the header pipes. (He used to tinker with old British 650's)

I didn't think they were very coloured, but I took the time tonight to take this shot (artificial light - a work light on a stand).

What does anybody think?

The bike is a Canadian 2007 with 13,000 kms - approx 8,000 miles

Although I have had Miss Jaffa (Burnt Orange 2007 Versys) for a while, I still have a lot to learn.

the color is normal.if it was titanium it would become blue in the future.the engine runs hot in order to produce this power, its designed like that.a good idea is to shine the pipes with some specific metal aftermarket cleaners ,also frond wheel "sends" a lot of dirt on the pipes so a small fender would help .

Mine is a Canadian Model too and pipes are the same color. as long as they don't rust I am ok with colors-whatever it maybe.

Yeap! they are hot and change color and I surpose that's what exhaust pipes are for.
