'15 Versys 650 Parts Cross-reference... Oil Plug, Filter

Hello again everyone,

Sorry for starting so many new threads being this new to the forum. I have done my due diligence searching the archives and am still unsure on a few things parts-wise. Most parts websites haven't updated to include the '15 yet.

3 questions.

1. I'm wanting a magnetic oil plug... Do you guys think ordering a magnetic drain plug with the old 12 x 1.5 should suffice? (washer should be the same too right?) Seems to be some strangeness in cross-referencing kawasaki part#s... the part "reference" numbers seem to stay the same but the -xxxx changes here and there.

2. Also, the oil filter part number changed from pe-2015 "16097-0004" to 2015 showing "16097-0008"... Wanting to do my own oil changes and want to buy a few filters in bulk form amazon. Recon the filter is the same?

3. Any word on whether the '15 can have a center stand?

My apologies if these are stupid questions, new to the world of Versys.

The only stupid question is the one unasked.

1. Cannot imagne they would change it.
2. Wouldn't think they would change it however having different part numbers ?
3. I'm sure someone will make one SW-Motech made one for the Mk.2 just give them time.

Oil filter part number was changed from 16097-0004 to 16097-0008 for all model years... It's now made in China instead of Japan.

Drain plug and filter is same size as others have stated. I have a magnetic plug and stainless reusable filter also with a magnet waiting for next oil change. Have been unable to find any info regarding an oem center stand, only read that it exists on this forum, and another bike magazine said same thing, but I don't think there are oem ones, at least not offered yet. I know the 1000 will get center stand, but none for 650? I also remember reading something about Sw motech not making a centerstand for this specific model year.

Well gentlemen I appreciate the replies! I'm happy with the info. I'll have my V in this Saturday! Can't wait. The painful x-mas eve feeling meets Groundhog Day feeling continues!

Oops! My misunderstanding, but I was not really that concerned since it did not effect me.

################################################## ###

But the SW centerstand is NOW expanded to cover 2015!! The person who said the 2015 did not fit probably did not know about the lowering disclaimer: it won't work if lowered. it's lucky to have ANY centerstand with the exhaust below: and it does work great.

Karma is with me and Vs.!

Just received an email from twisted throttle, their advertised SW Motech center stand for the 2015 650 "is not" confirmed to fit the 2015 MY. They go on to say, they are waiting For a confirmation of fitment from SW Motech which should be in 2-3 months.

Wow, I love this forum. Thank you for going above and beyond on your research! Lurking on this forum and seeing the niche-nature of the Versys community and how helpful & friendly... This was actually a big seller for me jumping to buying my V.

Thank you sir!

Tell ya what I'm going to do for you guys. I'll buy a SW Motech Center stand for a 2015 Versys out of my pocket and give it a try. YOU just have to get a 2015 Versys 650 for me!

Or was that look THEN leap?

Awesome! Enjoy your new versys, it's a wonderful thing. This forum is the gold that's in the bucket, when you crank up the handle, from the bottom of a rare well.

Yep for all the joking that goes on if you have real problem the guys and girls here will do all they can to help. Unlike a few boards I've been to where they just about it and insult each other.

Here Here!

The only thing close to this community I have found was JeepForum.com... I'm a bit of a Wrangler Enthusiest... now expanding into the world of Versys...

I'm expecting to catch that horrible contaigeon that is "farkling" here pretty quick... Hope it's not as bad as the Jeep bug when it comes to mods!!

Just Empty Every Pocket

Hopefully VERSYS doesn't have an acronym of that nature yet!!!
