I had the air horn snorkels re-installed in the air box that the previous owner had removed. (I had read that removing them increased performance.) The result? My 2008 is quieter at idle, smoother running, and the performance feels just as good. My opinion? You're not going to out-think a professional Japanese engineer.

IMO this also applies to the myth that attaching the two throttle bodies together with vacuum hose will improve smoothness and engine performance vs balancing the throttle bodies separately as described in service manual. IMO the engineers intended the throttle bodies to be separate and unaffected by one another, otherwise they could have just used one carburetor or throttle body like HD does.
