Clutch cable models
I don't currently need to replace my cable, and yet have a question. Every other day there is a post about lubricating the cables, for obvious reasons, and I have done that, and yet on my cable there is a housing at he bar end of the cable that allows the barrel to rotate freely inside and not directly rub against the lever.
I don't know if my cable is OEM or not, and it interests me because this design would be way, way less prone to friction induced stress and breakage than one that lacked this housing. Keeping it clean and a simple spray of lube once in a while would more than do the job.
So my main question is whether the OEM cables come with this thin metal housing around the barrel that allows for this free movement in the lever. Or does my bike have an after market model of cable that I may want to replicate? I am wanting to purchase and carry a spare for all the reasons mentioned.
