Fork Seal dimensions

I need to pick up some fork seals from the seal store here. If anyone has an old OEM seal laying around, will you provide me with the dimensions so I can pick some up before I disassemble the fork. I don't have another vehicle and the seal store is around 50 miles away. Thanks,,

Aftermarket seals generally/always suck. Buy O.E.M.

OEM Not available at this time. Dealers here generally don't stock fork seals since all the mechanics go to a seal store to buy seals.

I live south of Guadalajara in Mexico. I can order a pair of OEM seals from the US. The process will take 2 to 4 weeks if I even get them. Cost of seals, double postage (once to the border city where my PMB is located and then from the border to my town in Mexico), and customs fees will cost be about $40.00. Lots of mail disappears between the border and my town.

I can pick up two seals tomorrow in Guadalajara for about $5.00 and finish the job in one day. The seals here are the same quality as in the states, I've not had any problem with any of my fork repairs here.

No problem. I ordered fork seals a few years ago from the Suzuki dealer. The warehouse in Mexico City did not stock the seals so my dealer in Guadalajara imported the seals from Suzukis natl warehouse in California so 6 weeks later I get the seals. Japanese parts here cost about 40% more than in US and dealers keep very low inventory levels

Have you tried cleaning your fork seals first? Leaks are usually caused by fine dust collected in the seal. Just pop off the dust seal down with flat screwdriver to access oil seal.

http://sealmate.net/

http://www.ebay.com/sch/eBay-Motors-...l+mate&_sop=15

I hit a massive woop on the highway which blew out oil from both seals, and the right one kept dripping over the trip and afterwards. I then completely fixed them with the Seal Mate. It easily removed an impressive amount of very fine sand from the seals, and they've been perfect since. It is great maintenance to prevent leaks down the road, and to avoid scorring your fork tubes which can lead to permanent leaks.

I managed to slip my car's oil dipstick in the spacer hole to measure and compare levels, and replenish the lost fork oil by supporting front end and just removing fork caps.

Yes I have done that twice. This time of year I spend a lot of time on rocky, muddy dirt roads so I am keeping some strips of 35 mm film in my tank bag.

I've got a DL1000 front wheel, is there a conversion to conventional forks that will not require machine work? I've seen the DRZ conversion but that won't work for me. Something like 6-8" of travel would work,

Recent mudslide I ran up on last week, that's why the sign in the first photo says road closed. do not pass:

Where I was headed:

Thanks a million, I'd tried various ways to search but ended up empty handed. I'm going to Guadalajara tomorrow to pick up the seals,
