Buying a new bike in crate

I saw a Versys few days ago on the web and I asked the dealer for a OTD price.
It was a 2012 with a 4999$ price.
He answered me that was an old advertising and it sold for $4999+ $774 of assembly & transport + taxes.

What exactly do they assemble for 700$?
is it worth it to buy it in crate and assemble it yourself?
do they do that? (dealers)

The $700 cost is more than likely the $90 per hour shop rate it takes to assemble the bike. As far as buying one and assembling one yourself. I've seen it done on Guam and in Korea. But good luck getting ANY warranty work done if something breaks.

Crate

I purchased my 2008 in 2010 after it sat in the dealers back shop. I purchased below his cost because he wanted it sold. Go back and offer him the $5000 with no set up fee. This bike has been sitting in his shop for 2 years... make him install a new battery free.
My dealer gave me a new battery and oil change. When I got home I lubed the heck out of the chain and changed the brake fluid. I was in aircraft hydraulic for 25 years. I changed the brake fluid not from being dirty but because of moisture. Looks like you are in Canada so the bike has been sitting in a back shop where the temperature may have been very cold.
DO NOT BACKBLEED the fluid, all that will do is push the crud up into the reservoir. Spend the money on good brake fluid, I use ATE typ 200 in all my cars, truck and bikes. It's blue and easy to see in the reservoir window.
