Air filter service

Have you folks had good results w/ the recommended procedure of using solvent and 30wt oil when servicing the air filter? The reason I ask is I used the leftover recharger kit from the K&N filter that goes in my truck. Motor oil just didnít seem right to me. I even remember on my Twin Air foam elements from my KTMís when I would run out of filter oil I would use chain saw bar oil because of its sticky/tackiness. 30wt motor oil for some reason didnít seem right. Iím usually more faithful in what is recommended in the service manual and wonder if what I used[K&N stuff] has a compatibility issue w/the OEM element? Your thoughts?

I've been using the same K&N kit on my filter for 3 years now and all's well.
