FI question for the gearheads

I don't know the first thing about fuel injection. OK, with that out of the way... do you guys know if the Versys has an air injection system? Apparently it's an EPA deal with some newer Triumphs. These owners are disconnecting them and it helps eliminate the jerky throttle roll on/roll off. Anyone???

There is a PAIR (Pulse Air Injection Reed) valve which admits air from the airbox to the exhaust ports when closing throttle at over a certain rpm and under engine-braking, to reduce emissions and to help protect the muffler's catalytic converter. It has no effect on power and driveability, but is sealed off to reduce backfiring tendency with an aftermarket low-restriction silencer...

Huh? OK, I guess I understand that. Has no effect on the herky jerky throttle response though. Too bad. I was hoping for a fix.
It seems very difficult to produce a gradual roll on at lower speeds. Particularly noticeable when taking a corner in second gear and trying to accellerate midway through the turn. The bike just wants to jump ahead and makes it tricky to execute a smooth turn. I find myself slipping the clutch to smooth it out.
Thanks for your response Invader.

Have you tried the vacuum hose mod, by coupling both TB's with a 6" long, 1/8" ID vacuum hose between both TB vacuum synch fittings? Adjusting the TPS up to spec also helped completely cure that driveability problem.

I didn't realize this had already been addressed. Did a search and found the thread at

Looks like I have some studying to do. Thanks for the heads up Invader.
