DID VX2 Chain

Don't use it. Blew threw two on a trip to Newfoundland. Although cross-referenced as an OEM replacement by DID, the rollers and pins are to narrow for the OEM sprockets.

I would think that any 520 chain would fit. Could they have be counterfeit?

Maybe you didn't use enough WD-40.

My guess is there is some contributing factor like the too much chain tension, lack of alignment, lack of lubrication or other. Even the cheapest ebay chain should last 15,000km. I have the DID and no issues, it seems better quality than the OEM chain.

I got DID's 520VM which is excellent, before they came up with 520VX2 "GREAT VALUE X-RINGŪ"

"D.I.D has merged our Professional O-Ring V Series and our top selling Premium X-RingŪ VM Series into “ONE” New Pro-Street X-RingŪ VX Series."

I have had DID chains in the past. No problem. My 2012 came with a DID chain (although I think it was made special for Kawasaki Thailand). However, the VX2 is different. Trust me. In any case, don't want to argue the point - just alert my colleagues.

My 2011 came with a DID chain and it was shot at 7500 miles. I went with an RK this time, the GXW line. The OEM chain was kinked and o-rings were squishing out the side plates, and I was lubing every 400 miles and checking tension every 600 (kept it right around 35mm, so loose end of the spec). It seemed softer than normal when I cut it off. I only mention it because like Mursili, I wondered if Kawi wasn't doing a good job of quality control or ended up with a Chinese knock-off. That being said, I have a VX2 right now on my DR650 and it seems to be doing fine.

Twowheels - do you have a jpg of your avatar? I saw that a long time ago on Advrider and could never find it again. Don't want to use it for an avatar but wouldn't mind having a copy just for kicks.
