Leaking Bolts

Hey all,

Quick question. I changed my oil + filter tonight, started it up for a bit, turned it off, checked for leaks. Oil filter- good; Drain Plug- good. However, there are 2 bolts with copper (looks like copper anyways) washers on both sides of the oil filter (2/side). The top right one has some oil coming out of it (I wipe it and it comes back, but it is not dripping,or if it is, very, very slowly). Also, on the left hand side, below the 2 copper washer bolts, is another bolt, which is also leaking in the same fashion. Is this normal or should I take it back to the stealership and tell them to seal them? I did not touch these bolts at any time, with anything (wrench, ratchet, etc).

Here are the torque specs from the manual.

I highly recommend you borrow or buy a torque wrench and check to see if they are torqued correctly. NOTE; some of these are in inch lbs, (not foot lbs) that's not much torque, would be very easy to over-tighten them.

If its under warranty make the dealer do it.

There should be no leaking from the V engine anywhere. Did these leaks start after your oil change or were they always there? Not to insult you, but you did use the correct viscosity and you didn't overfill it right? Both of those can cause problems.

I had the same leak on one of mine right from the factory. Just snugged it down about 1/8 turn, no more problems. I also just did my 600 mile service and it was dry so just seemed to be a little loose from the factory.
