Arrow has gotten quieter

I don't know what it is, and maybe someone can explain...

But the other week I took out the baffle from my Arrow exhaust, and was very surprised to find the tone much more muted that I had remembered. It had seemed to "settle" down with the baffle in, which is how I have been running it since getting it 6 months ago, but I figured it would still be way too loud with the baffle out.

Man, was I surprised. I have no problem driving it around town, and it no longer solicites unfriendly stares or single finger salutes. As a bonus... it revs faster and accelerates even harder.

Can anyone explain how an exhaust would quiet over time? I assumed it would get louder!

The insulating material broke in a bit... Any other changes? You're still using the same grade of gasoline?

Added the power commander, but I don't think that has anything to do with it. Same everything else. Whatever happened, I am grateful! Sounds amazing now. I love the deep grumble as I decelerate, and switching gears sounds awesome!

I don't know, I pulled my baffle out the other day just because I was dying to hear that deeeeeeep tone again. It took a 20 minute ride to realize why I put the baffle in right after installing the system. WAY TOO LOUD for me. It does accelerate quicker & puller harder un-baffled, but I could not tolerate the noise. My tinnitus & age must be catching up with me.

Must be all the screaming about the economies of the world making you deaf, or like was said the packing has loosened up a bit. Mine has done the same thing.

Japanese scientists have created a camera with such a fast shutter speed they now can photograph a woman with her mouth shut.

Packing material does fluff up a bit initially to absorb more noise. Richening up the lean low end with the Power Commander also softens up the tone a bit, as well as reduce lean backfiring upon decel and and when reopening throttle...
Which octane grade of gasoline are you using? It'll be noticeably louder with 93-94 octane compared to 89-91 octane, especially at low to mid steady speeds without advancing ignition timing.
