With in reason, I get a whiff from the tank vent. Esp. in the warmer weather.

Gas smell?
Did you have chili and beans for lunch?
And did you have a tail-wind???
Cheers,

See anything coming out of your petrol overflow pipe?
Maybe check the seal of your petrol tank cover cap.

So far, have not come across this gas smell.

Thanks.

This is common with Kawi's. I have had it both on my 250R and V. Its just gas venting out from the tank to prevent too much pressure buildup in the tank. Well, at least I hope that is the gas you are smelling. Is this a new V? Do you also here a high pitched frequency from the gas tank?

After posting this question, I was in the garage and heard a strange sound from around the bike. I stood there for awhile, heard it again. it was coming from the gas tank cap. So I guess this is normal.

Yep. At least it was on the '08. The problem gets less worse with time. I am waiting to see how bad it is this summer. There was a thread last year on a way to drill the cover to allow a little more flow and stop the whistle sound. BTW, the whistle sound actually sounds like an electronic beep.

The tank farts (vents) when it get's too hot.

Try leaving the V in the sun for a while and then push it in the shade.
Stay close for a while. You will hear it.
