Smile cam chain guide broken

I started to hear tapping sound from area of the cam chain.I then removed the tensioner assembly.I looked inside at the cam chain area and saw that my chain guide was not where it was supposed to be,I could not see it are feel it.Maybe it has fallen into the engine,I will not know until I disassemble and look inside.h My question is How much has to be disassembled to replace the chain and at least the rear chain quide? Thanks and have a great day.

Why would it have broken? What have you done to it, and what are you smiling about?

So long as you didn't ride with it broken long, there's little place for it to go unless you managed to grind it into dust. In one piece its only about 10" long. I could see it in maybe two or three chunks sitting on top of the lower sprocket. It will become incredibly graphic once the right side cover comes off. Replacing the cam chain requires splitting the case. Hope it doesn't come to that.

Can't wait to here more.

If you need parts, let me know. I have most of an engine I kept as a spare when I was racing my Ninja. I'd be willing to part it out.
