Rubber gas tank grommets - small side in our out?

It's the one thing I forgot to take note of. When putting new rubber grommets on the tank, does the smaller side of the grommet go inside, towards the tank or stick out towards the fairings? Thx.

Smaller side inside. The outer larger side is there for the fairing to sit on.

MOST things will only fit one way. That's because of accidents involving aircraft where parts that go in more than one way (BUT ONLY ONE is correct...) have been put in wrong (this is known as a "Murphy") causing major accidents, many deaths.
