urgent help: got givi E450 monolock but....

hello guys,

I need your urgent help.

I got the givi E450 simply and it came with A UNIVERSAL PLATE...now I need to order the Givi 447FZ (sidearms)....my question is : will those arms be enough with the universal plate or do I need to buy the FZ top plate also?

thank you very much!!!

I would recommend getting the matching top plate...I can't remember if the holes line up well with the universal plates. But the plate for the FZ447 rack works well. Make sure you get the appropriate plate (M5M - monolock).

thanks Dave!

since the universal place is from Givi...then I think I will give it a try first...if it works then fine, otherwise I will get the M5M...I just wanted to save a bit for my barkbusters (my bank account started to scream somehow )

You're going to need the matching M5M plate.

I have a universal plate (from an older use) for my monolock box, and I bought the FZ447 arms and M5M plate over the Winter. I don't have them installed yet, so I just measured the mounting points on both plates:

The M5M plate mounts to the arms thru four set holes spaced as follows:
6.5 inches apart front to back for the left and right sides
6 inches apart side to side at the "lock" end
6.25 inches apart at the "tab" end.

The universal plate has a smaller surface area than the M5M with mulitple openings to create mounting points for bolts. This area has openings that measure:
6 inches on center across the "tab" end, and, if you measure up from there for the 6.5 inches you nead front to back, you run off the edge of the mounting space.

So, on its own the universal plate won't accomodate the FZ447 arms. However, if you have the skill and the will: you could fabricate a flat plate of your own, mount that flat plate onto the FZ447 arms, and then mount your universal plate to that fabricated flat plate.

Hope that helps.

Always trust your cape.

Really thank you so very much for having taken the time o take the measurements etc. I really appreciate it.

I can fabricate the plate as you suggested but then knowying myself very well I will be continiously worried if it is sturdy enough for my trips...I checked an italian supplier who's offering the M5M for 26 USD...I guess this is a good price for the peace of mind....

Thanks once again
