I got my 2018 650Versys in early 2019 & I had the Kawaski dealer install heated grips.
About 2 weeks ago I had the same dealer install the genuine Kawasaki LED light bar with aux lights.
The aux lights have an off-on button mounted on the right side mirror braket.
The heated grips have a selector button mounted on the left side mirror braket, the heated grip button assembly has 3 LED indicators to select & indicate the heat selected from Hi to Lo.
Since the aux lights have been installed one or more of the heated grip LED's will flash when the aux lights are switched off.
This isn't causing any problem at this time but there seems to be some interaction between the circuits for the lights & grips & relay unit.
I've mentioned this to the dealer & they are checking with Kawaski to see if they have any explanation for this issue.
I just wondered if anyone else has seen this issue.
with grips and aux lights off as well as any other optional accessories and brake lights off - required for baseline
1) engine off voltage with key removed (just the battery no-load voltage)
2) battery voltage at engine idle
3) battery voltage with engine running at a steady 3500RPM
again #2 and #3 with grips on high and lights off
again #2 and #3 with lights on high and grips off
again #2 and #3 with both on high
indicate which tests cause the LEDs to blink
post your results on this thread, also if you have the current (A) or power (W) consumption info for your lights and grips please post this information as well, in lieu post make and model as the info may be on the Internet.
What make of heated grips. Also how are you switching off the lights? So your heated grips are operated by a selector switch, sure isn't Oxford. Is everything connected to the 5 amp aux. circuit?
Sorry that I haven't replied on this item but I do appreciate all the comments & feedback, here is an update with some answers to the various suggestions etc.
I'm not sure what make of heated grips i have, these were installed by delaer at my request when I ordered the bike, there's no visable markings on either the grips or switchgear. I suspect these might be original Kawasaki units but not sure.
As someone suggested I did take some battery voltage readings as follows;
Engine off, lights off, grips off = 12.8 vdc.
Engine idle, lights off, grips off = 13.6 vdc.
Engine at 3500 rpm, lights off, grips off = 14.2 vdc.
Engine idle, grips on, lights off = 13.5 vdc.
Engine at 3500 rpm, grips on, lights off = 14.2 vdc.
Engine idle, grips on, lights on = 13.5 vdc.
Engine at 3500 rpm, grips on, lights on = 14.2 vdc.
The grip switch LED's did nnot flash at any time during these checks.
I spoke to the local delater service manager & we did sme further checks.
We could get the LED's to flash when the engine was stopped with the ignition & lights still selected on, he thought this flashing might indicate a low battery condition as sensed by the grips.
Once the engine was started and reved to 2000 rpm + the flashing stopped so perhaps this is true.
So this is not a big deal but I wodner if anybody else has seen this?
