I have a small amount of oil seeping from the area of my bike ('08) where the camshaft chain tensioner is located. I dropped my bike on the right side a couple of weeks ago, and noticed the oil after I rode it after the drop. the amount of oil is very small, enough to wipe off with my fingers.
I believe the 0 speed drop may have loosened the gasket enough to cause this. Looking at the service manual (5-20 to 5-21) it looks fairly straight forward to replace the gasket and to reset the tensioner.
The question I have is the last line on page 5-21:
"Turn the crankshaft 2 turns clockwise to allow the tensioner
to expand and recheck the camshaft chain timing."
What steps in the manual is this part, or how do you guys perform this step?
Page 5-22. THere are 2 caps on the right side case cover. One uncovers the timing rotor bolt, and the other is for timing inspection. Remove the caps, put a socket on the timing rotor bolt, and turn. You can watch the timing marks through the inspection hole to know how many times you've turned it over.
