New recall

In the new Motorcycle Consumer News. The turnsignals can breakresulting in the signals hanging from the wires, causing a crash ect. Kawasaki will replace all 4 turnsignals. Call 866-802-9381, NHTSA ID 08v520000
This is for the KL6508E8f. That is us right?

I got this letter from Kawasaki about the turn signals for my KLR650, are they now recalling the turn signals for the V? This is old news for the KLR650 folks.

Recall is for the 2008 KLR650:

"Kawasaki KL650E8F, KL650E8FL 2008 Motorcycles Recalled
October 11, 2008
Make / Models : Model/Build Years:
KAWASAKI / KL650E8F 2008
KAWASAKI / KL650E8FL 2008
Manufacturer : KAWASAKI MOTORS CORP., U.S.A. Mfrís Report Date : SEP 30, 2008
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 08V520000 N/A NHTSA Action Number: N/A

Component: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:TURN SIGNAL
Potential Number Of Units Affected : 5804
Summary: KAWASAKI IS RECALLING 5,804 2008 KL650E8F AND KL650E8FL (CALIFORNIA) MOTORCYCLES. THE TURN SIGNAL STALK CAN BREAK, RESULTING IN THE SIGNAL ASSEMBLY HANGING BY THE WIRE HARNESS.
Consequence: THIS COULD CREATE A POSSIBILITY OF A CRASH RESULTING IN INJURY OR DEATH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE ALL FOUR TURN SIGNAL ASSEMBLIES. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING OCTOBER 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT KAWASAKI AT 1-866-802-9381.
Notes: CUSTOMERS MAY CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATIONíS VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153); OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV."

Versys turn signals are pretty hard to break with their flexible stalks. With enough force, they actually pop out without breaking and hang onto the wires without causing total loss of control.

The KL650E is a KLR...The Versys is a KLE650. IMHO, the nomenclature is a bit too similar, which could canse confusion like this, but what can ya do?!?
