Electronics went, blank screen on 2009

Battery of unknown age but always on Tender. Was green-lighted when I disconnected and rode off. Went to come back from store and wouldn't start. After sitting awhile it started but dash lights started flickering. Then half way home whole screen went blank and bike stalled in intersection. Checked battery when I got home and saw PO had written a date 2 yrs ago so replaced it today. Seems to start fine now. Anyone ever have the screen die on them while riding? If so why, if you know? PO replaced whole dash several years ago but I don't see any connection there.

I would get a multimeter and do a basic voltage check on the battery terminals with the bike not running and also with it running. Sounds like there may be an issue with the voltage regulator and/or stator. If it seems to be charging well, then it may have just been the old battery failing.

When something similar happened on my '09, it was caused by the stator 'dying'....

Same symptoms occurred with my '09 two weeks ago due to a dead stator. I was on a road trip, and the engine died just as I arrived at a dealership. Kawasaki stators listed at $415 (ouch!) for the part. Aftermarket runs about $150, but reliability is suspect according to the dealer. The dealer was able to swap in a stator from a Ninja and get me back on the road after a couple hours.

Thanks for the replies guys. Hope it's not stator but it's running ok now. What's the test for checking the stator?
