Mode Button Replacement/Substitute

My mode button worked fine but the rubber itself was starting to wear and every once in a while the plunger would come out of the hole and I'd have to stick it back in. I was going to use black rtv to seal and adhere it back to the panel but, of course, before I did that the button jumped ship and is long gone.

Has anyone replaced just the mode or reset button without havign to pay $90for a new instrument panel? My temp fix is a cut down matchstick with electrical tape covering it!

Ride To Live, Live To Ride....no, really!

Button dead...

My reset button is dead now and that sucks... I plan to replace it soon with an eject button from a junk Wii or something like that. A little soldering there and perhaps some RTV over a patch or something.... Not sure how to make it super waterproof.

Somebody on the site has posted about running wires from the mode button to the overtake switch. This way he only has to flick the switch with one finger to change mode, much easier than that little button, especially when riding.

I liked the idea as soon as I read it, but still haven't got myself into the shed to do the work.
