Tire report

I thought that I would give a report on my last set of tires. I had bought a set of Continental ContiMotion tires because I thought that I was getting a good deal. When riding last weekend I noticed some strange lines in the middle of my back tire. I kept a close watch on the tire, the line turned out to be the steel belts coming thru. I only had 3000. on this set of tires. I ride with sports bikes, hard, fast and twistys. I still believe that 3000 miles is a little short on life. The front tire still looks good. Anyway I thought that I would share my experience. I'm getting a set of Bridgestone BT 023 mounted up tomorrow. I'll see how those go and let you know. PS I check my tire pressure every time that I ride.

They are inexpensive...

Customer review from Bo (Rochester, VT):

"I love Continentals, just not these.

This is the third rear Continental that I've put on my Buell Cyclone, and the worst by far due to the poor tread life. I installed it on Memorial Day and it is now down to the cords, in less than 4000 miles. My previous two sets were Conti Force and Road Attacks, and I got about 6000 from the Force and 7000 from the Road Attack. Prior to the first set of Continentals I ran through three sets of Metzeler Z6 Roadtecs, which gave me similar mileage. Overall I preferred the Road Attacks over the others. Although the Z6 is similar in performance it didn't seem to wear as evenly."

Thanks for the heads up!
The Conti-motions I have will be going on in the fall.
Sounds like I won't be ordering another round of those.
I'll see for myself I guess.

I just put on a set of motions today. Looking forward to an improvement over the stock tires. For the bad reviews posted above there are 5 good ones at some of the tires sellers. The motions are rated quite high for their value.

I am thinking you will love your BT-023 'Stones...I installed a set on mine as my third set of tires on the bike and they are great!
I have just about 5K on mine and the front is showing almost no wear and the back just a little. It's hard to tell that they are not a full spec sport tire in the twisties too!

If it makes you feel any better, some people got even less than that on those. IIRC Bill (MT) reported a shot rear in 2500 miles. He rides pretty hard, but even for him that was shorter than usual.
