Question Optional spark plugs?

Hi all,

I am trying home servicing. I want to change spark plugs and air filter, but need some advice.

At a Kawasaki dealer today I was recommended the Denso U27ETR spark plug. Will this plug work in the Versys '08 model? The mechanic was adamant it was very good as the petrol in South Africa is not always as clean as USA and Europe.

Is he correct?

A web search will turn up a chart for matching up spark plug numbers from different brands. Denso is a good name. Just check that the heat range matches the original.

You do not need to change the air filter, you clean it and re-oil it.

You can help make Clem a household name

Using Denso IU 27A. IU27D is also available.

Denso's U27ETR (dual ground) spark plug works, but does not have an iridium center electrode as original and as recommended... NGK's CR9EIX and Denso's IU27, IU27A and IU27D iridium plugs are not projected like original NGK's CR9EIA-9, but are acceptable substitutes.

Thanks again for the info. I feel better now that it will work and will start my bike to see how it operates. I will post the findings.

Denso U27ETR's dual ground electrode with larger than iridium center electrode may be more foul resistant with dirtier petrol... How many kms did you get out of the original iridium plugs, did they still operate well, and what did they look like when removed?
