Givi 450 kit

Hi,

Anyone out there ever used the Givi 450 kit?

I tried to install it yesterday and, as I was unscrewing the plastic cover of the metal frame (in the passenger handle bar), I realized that if you screw "in" too far by as much as one-half turn, the self expanding brass sleeve inserted in the plastic mold will strip and you need to pull out the screw (and the sleeve stuck to it!)

I looked into getting this sleeve from Kawi part, but they only list the entire passenger grip bar (50$ a piece) and do not itemize this specific brass sleeve.

So, my Q is:

-Any of you could find this sleeve somewhere?
-If not, any alternative that worked for you (Home depot, net supplier, etc...)?

I know that this screw simply hold the plastic cover together, but Kawi could have made this a little more sturdy. This sucks.

I am thinking about filling the hole with some sort of potty and screw directly into it.

Thanks!
Mac

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but maybe it's part #92152, (collar). Check the fiche in the link:

Actually, the piece looks something like this.

They are not actually available at your typical Lowes/Home depot store, and it's impossible to find an online supplier (most just do bulk). Plus, it's metric (M5). Plus go figure if the 4 parameters (ID,OD, thread, lenght) will all fit!

I don't know about the previous year, but on the 2010, I swear that if you turn those screw (underneath the passenger handlebar) by over 1/2 turn after they barely bottom, the plastic will strip and you're done.

I figure that once the 450 kit is installed, the new handlebar metal frame wont come off until the end of the bike's life, so I may consider just gluing the 2 plastic cover together and forget about it.

Thanks anyway. If I find a part that fit, I'll update for the records.

Cheers,
Mac
