After reading a post that shared a link to these filters, I phoned them (J&P CYCLES) and ordered one, specifying it be MAILED to Canada, NOT UPS or FEDEX. It came in about a week and a half, and looks PDG!
Getting ready for my LO-O-ONG ride, I installed it Thursday in preparation for riding w/ SteveJ - an 'inmate' from FL - who planned to arrive here late Friday PM.
First note - reading the info on the box it came in, states that it's..."Washable and reusable"..., but then under ..."Proper Care and Cleaning" states..."Clean the element with compressed air. DO NOT USE WATER...".
To me it looks very similar to the many K&N filters I've had over the years....
I opened up my air-box (33K kms on the bike, tho' I changed the OEM filter w/ another OEM one last year) which was absolutely clean (still an OEM filter in these pics)
and removed the used OEM filter which looked like this (7K kms, so still OK IF I wanted to use it)
Holding that OEM filter reminded me that it is 'mounted' on a piece of plastic that is quite solid, while the BikeMaster one is on soft rubber. I 'trial-fitted' it, then decided that it might behoove me to put a 'line' of grease into the female slot in the lower part of the air-box JUST-IN-CASE - don't want it to leak air around the edges...
... - so I DID!
By the time I next remove the new filter, I hope to have definite advice on HOW to clean it - MY thoughts are to do the same as I've done w/ my K&Ns....
